Darkest Hour is Poni's third EP, released October 10th 2025 on Welcome Records (Kayzo's label). This EP dives deep into the darkest corners of the human experience, merging pensive lyricism with explosive sound design.
Combining elements of midtempo, breakbeat, dubstep and rocktronic, Darkest Hour is a cathartic, high-energy ride through pain, anger, vulnerability and ultimately resilience. Influenced by the raw emotional palette of acts like Bring Me The Horizon, Nitepunk and Kayzo, the EP captures moments of despair, isolation, and the fight to hold on.
"Every track on Darkest Hour is a snapshot of what it feels like to be completely consumed by the shadows," shares Poni. "Lyrically raw and sonically powerful, it’s the sound of coming face to face with our darkest places."

explores a metaphorical 'virus’.. a manifestation of inner demons such as depression, anxiety, or other mental struggles. It takes the listener on a descent through the mind of someone unraveling, capturing the surreal, almost dreamlike unraveling of reality. In the end, the subject loses their grip on sanity and slips from this world, embracing the chaos with an eerie sense of euphoria as they drift away.
into the blindness caused by preconceived beliefs - how people often reject truth even when it's right in front of them. It reflects on a society conditioned to accept carefully curated narratives, spoon-fed by those in control, while voices of dissent are dismissed or silenced for challenging the status quo.
explores the quiet, self-destructive path of someone who wants their life to end without actively taking it. Instead of a final act, they spiral into risky, self-destructive habits such as drugs, alcohol, and danger, hoping one night goes too far. It’s a portrait of pain masked as chance, where an ‘accident’ feels like a softer exit, sparing themselves the shame of suicide and in their mind, easing the loss for their loved ones.
was written 5–6 years ago during a time when I felt deeply depressed and invisible - like I wasn’t enough for anyone. I tried to express how I felt, but it seemed no one noticed. The song is a raw reflection of that loneliness, and it’s the most personal song I’ve written. Though I still struggle at times, looking back reminds me how far I’ve come and how much strength I’ve gained.
HELLSCAPE

Calamitous times and places that are void of hope, Hellscape tells a story of three vastly unpleasant circumstances. Vengeance and how the murdered haunts the murderer. Heartbreak and being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist, ultimately leaving them to ruin their own lives. Despair and how lost and brainwashed society is. Is there really no hope though? That’s up for interpretation.
A story of vengeance. An individual, rabid for blood, steals a life that’s isn’t theirs. Apep, the demon of darkness and destruction (my re-imagination) at work.. spectating. Basking in pleasure. Is the corrupt really void of humanity tho? Haunted by their sins, the murdered tastes the sweetness of revenge, driving the murderer to bend and break. What was once thought to satisfy, destroys and becomes one’s demise… a perhaps happy ending after all

LEAVE YOU IN THE DARK
A story of heartbreak. Of being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist, always coming second to themselves. So deep within their own needs, leaving no room for love of another. Blinded by self obsession to what’s truly in the reflection.. Ultimately, the abused and the abandoned finds the strength to let go, leaving them to destroy their own life.
CONCEPTUAL REALITY
A story of despair. It paints a haunting picture of how we’re lost in the haze of conformity, capturing the suffocating grip of a society blinded by its own illusions. A cry of rebellion against the hollow routines and empty promises, urging society to wake up, question, and find meaning in a world that’s determined to keep us lost.
All three stories are tied together by the sinister workings of Apep, the demon of darkness and destruction (my reimagination). Is there really no hope though? That’s up for interpretation...
DEBUT EP
POWERLESS is Poni’s debut EP featuring an array of rocktronic infused genres including drum and bass, dubstep and midtempo, showcasing her desire to not be confined to any one one genre. Poni had the pleasure of working with the very talented QOIET, WISNER, Andy from aftermyfall and ero808, all adding their own unique flair and really breathing life into each song.
POWERLESS takes you on a journey through the feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, anger, pain, frustration and wanting to give up, all stemming from the real life experiences and raw emotion Poni faced through a very difficult few years.
POWERLESS garned the attention of various media outlets including EDM Identity, Dubstep FBI, Electric Hawk and Yifi as well as landed a UKF upload to their dubstep channel. Poni received her first Spotify editorial playlists, Rocktronic (one of her goals for 2024) and Metal & Bass, with not one, but two tracks from the EP, POWERLESS and SUFFERING. As well as breaking 20k monthly listeners on Spotify, all four tracks from the EP made it into her top ten on Spotify, with POWERLESS leading the way as number one. Poni entered the NFT space with SUFFERING as her first drop on Soundxyz, making it onto the website’s front page, also making it onto the front of Beatport’s dubstep page.
Overall, POWERLESS was well received and praised by artists, listeners and media alike. Upon writing out the successes of the release and having time to reflect, Poni is overjoyed at the reponse of her debut EP and in her words, “couldn’t have asked for a better release!”.
Originally I hadn’t imagined these songs fitting together in a body of work until I realized that they all had a common theme.. Powerless, Suffering, Misery, Parasite… All very somber titles. While working on these songs over the last few years, through the hardest times of my life, I was pouring my feelings of depression, anger, pain, anxiety, frustration and stress without even realizing it into writing them and I think it shows.
I’ve been through hell the last few years with moving to another country, visa issues, losing my job, on the brink of not being able to pay rent multiple times, cutting ties with a lot of people, feeling like I hit rock bottom, among many other things.. All of that even felt trivial though after losing my sister to a rare cancer in October 2023. If I could sum up in one word how I’ve felt these last few years and through my sister’s battle with cancer, it’d be powerless… Powerless because so many things were out of my control.
However, through it all I feel like I’ve kept my head up and persevered and for that I’m really proud of myself. I still have my dark moments, but I’m very thankful to have a really good support network and with that and music, I’ve managed to find some peace and keep pushing forward. This body of work means a lot to me, it’s taking me a long time to get here but I’m proud of this project and I hope you enjoy it too, whether the songs' deeper meanings resonate with you or you just have fun dancing to them. :)
